Bonsai Planting: Oh You Got To Love These!

Posted by Zee On January - 8 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Bonsai planting, unlike planting just any other tree needs determination, dedication and patience. Your bonsai plant needs extra care from its roots to the tip. Many even consider bonsai planting an art. I would like to differ from them in saying that any plant needs love and care, and that is how one can ensure the wellbeing of the plant, and eventually the wellbeing of a dedicated gardener. This is also an art. But I would definitely agree that a bonsai plant demands some extra pampering or it would seize to be a bonsai plant.

This is not the case with, say, a mango tree. A bonsai mango tree will not remain a bonsai mango tree if it does not satisfy certain requisites, but it will remain a mango tree nevertheless.

Bonsai seeds need proper type of bonsai soil- if you are a serious gardener, you will need to remember this. Most people consider bonsai plants to be absolutely different from other normal plants. But fact is, apart from its size every aspect of a bonsai plant is similar to that of an ordinary plant. And that is why, like in case of any other normal plant, soil is a very important concern in bonsai plants as well. You will need to ensure while planting bonsai plants that it is being done so in proper type of soil.

First factor that you will need to consider is that as bonsais are potted plants, these seeds have to draw nutrition and other essentials from same soil for a long time until that soil is replaced. This makes it essential that the chosen soil should be able to cater to and fulfill all needs of that bonsai plant over a long period of time. For this, the chosen soil should have several characteristics.

Posted by Zee On December - 4 - 2007 ADD COMMENTS

In the past few years, the art of gardening has taken the world by storm and organic gardening is the most recent development in this area. So what it is it actually about? Gardening – with regard to vegetables, fruits and flowers – has been around for time immemorial and so has been gardening organically. But what is so special about the latter?

In the wake of technological developments, man had forgotten to fall back on natural methods of gardening and this is exactly what needs to be done while gardening organically. In this kind of gardening, you cannot use synthetic chemicals or any artificial methods. Despite being around for centuries actually, we had kept dumb about its importance somewhere along the way. But natural methods of gardening are gaining back their popularity and are here to stay.

Basic Bonsai Planting Information for Beginners

Posted by Zee On November - 20 - 2007 ADD COMMENTS

Whenever you ask somebody about bonsai planting or some other bonsai information, you are sure to get an answer. But the answers do not always seem so convincing, despite the fact that you are a beginner yourself, and you hardly know anything about how to plant bonsai. This is because the world of bonsai is full of hearsays and myths. Take this for example – most of us are in to the belief that bonsai plants cannot grow beyond certain centimeters from the ground. This is not true. A traditional bonsai can grow up to, and sometimes beyond, a meter from ground!

You are more vulnerable to these myths if you are a beginner in gardening a bonsai. You need to be well informed while taking up bonsai planting as a fulltime hobby. Planting bonsai is equivalent to training a plant to behave in a particular way. And as a beginner, you do two things at the same time – train the bonsai to take up a certain role and train yourself in training the plant. Confusing? But that’s how it is! And once you practiced enough and mastered the art, you can ensure vitality for your plant and satisfaction for yourself.

A bonsai plant can not only change the look of the area you live in or that of your garden, but also can a bonsai plant influence your lifestyle and the ways you think. Bonsai harvesting can be a great hobby too, and it is already so for many thousands of people in the US. The primary secret behind any beautiful bonsai is care – you care for your bonsai and your efforts are going to show on yourself.

Bonsai harvesting, as I already mentioned, needs some effort, time and a lot of other investments on your part. Remember, a bonsai is a plant like any other. Posted by Zee On September - 25 - 2007 ADD COMMENTS

Artificial bonsai trees are very much in demand as an artifact of beautifying your home. But most people who use bonsai plants for decorative purposes believe that bonsai plants can be placed only inside houses. Now there is nothing which specifies that bonsai pants are to be placed inside enclosed rooms only. In fact, now that science of bonsai has crossed its stage of nascence, many see placing of bonsai plants and trees inside homes or in enclosed places as completely unscientific and bereft of reason. But then it would also be a mistake to generalize and say that a bonsai should be always kept out in open sunlight, subject to all vagaries of nature.

A bonsai is a special kind of plant, which is different from other ordinary plants and hence requires some special care. When one is to decide where a bonsai plant should be placed, the first major aspect that you need to take into consideration is that what type of a bonsai plant is in question in that instance. But even despite individual needs of specific types of bonsai plants, it is still possible to lay down some general guidelines that you have to adhered to as closely as possible in order to keep bonsai plants healthy. Artificial bonsai trees require an optimum amount of natural sunlight in order to grow and survive.
