Bonsai planting, unlike planting just any other tree needs determination, dedication and patience. Your bonsai plant needs extra care from its roots to the tip. Many even consider bonsai planting an art. I would like to differ from them in saying that any plant needs love and care, and that is how one can ensure the wellbeing of the plant, and eventually the wellbeing of a dedicated gardener. This is also an art. But I would definitely agree that a bonsai plant demands some extra pampering or it would seize to be a bonsai plant.

This is not the case with, say, a mango tree. A bonsai mango tree will not remain a bonsai mango tree if it does not satisfy certain requisites, but it will remain a mango tree nevertheless.

Pruning, potting, repotting, fertilizing, trimming, and so on – your bonsai needs regular beauty sessions and a lot of indulgence! It is an accepted fact that a bonsai plant in your house can actually change how it appears. And in order to make it happen, you have to ensure that your bonsai plant is in its complete health and is full of glory. Yes, a bonsai plant might be small but it is no less mighty than a huge stalked tree. To ensure the same for your plant, you need to provide it with all the essential nutrients that your plant needs in order to exhibit liveliness.

Providing essential nutrients and minerals to a plant becomes all the more important when it comes to bonsai planting. This simply owes to the fact that bonsai plants are planted in pots, where there is minimum, in fact, no chance for the soil to exchange minerals and other nutrients from its environment. In other words, your bonsai plant is univocally dependant on you! Remember, your bonsai is not just any plant. Do not feed your bonsai plant with the usual run of the mill fertilizers. Say a big NO to them because they contain harmful chemicals that may cause damage to your plant.

Instead, use bio-fertilizers, which will provide your treasured plant with all the essential nutrients the natural way. Bonsai plants have very specific nutritional necessities. It is true that, like any usual plant, your bonsai plant can also survive on low levels of nutrition, but in order to see your bonsai plant waving in full glory, you need to feed it properly.

Use the right bonsai soil mix and see the difference in your bonsai’s health yourself. There is a wide variety of soil ingredients you can use for your bonsai’s vitality. But the ingredients and the proportion in which they are to be mixed will depend on the variety of bonsai plant you are planning. But make sure that the mix is capable of holding moisture and is low in its urea content. But make sure that any excess water is drained away or it will block air and mineral passage and rot the roots of your bonsai plant. Keep certain subtleties in mind, and seek expert guidance if needed.

Happy bonsai planting!
