Home gardening is like experiencing bliss. But before you start planning your harden, lets understand what is so great about having a bunch of trees in your home. Perhaps, most of us love nature and long to be closer to Mother Nature. Of course, it is not possible to go and settle down in the Amazons or Himalayas. Our professional commitments won’t allow us to do that. But there is a better way out. Rather than going to Mother Nature, bring her to your own home- get yourself a home garden.

If you thought a garden, or a home garden is only a motley bunch of trees, you are light years away from reality. Just like the fact that the whole is bigger than the sum of the parts, a home garden is much more than a couple of flower plants, a few decorative trees and some bonsai plants. Individual plants are just small pieces of cogs that come together to create the beautiful world of a home garden. This perhaps will tell you that having a home garden, an impressive and wow home garden that is, requires a lot of money, time and more importantly, planning.

It is rightly said that Rome was not built in a day. Similarly, a great home garden cannot be build just by twitching your fingers. Planning your garden is perhaps the most important step. Ask any engineer and he or she will tell you that the initial design of a building decides the grandeur of a building. Similar is the case with a home garden. A good and through planning is perhaps the most critical step in creating the oh-so-perfect garden for your home. So before you start designing, ask yourself- what exactly is it that you want your home garden to look like? Should it have a tropical tinge? Or, do you want a have a strange Spartan look in your garden?

Once you have decided on the theme, the next step is to list down all the ingredients that you will require to execute that plan. The list should contain, but should not be limited to, the fertilizers that you will require, soil nutrients, gardening tools, pesticides and other components. Additionally, write down the list of seeds and saplings that you would require. Armed with the list, it is now shopping time. If you are not planning the hanging gardens of Babylon, chances are that you will find most of the tools and other components in the local gardening shop.

When you are ready with the components, start executing your design. If you are meticulous, it is just a matter of time before you get that dream garden of yours. Just like clothing is much more than just some pieces of clothes, a home garden has much more to it than just a collection of plants. A well planned and well created home design is actually a huge piece of art- it goes a long way representing the personality and the tastes of the gardener.
